The search for furniture for our new house has been a slow process. We've decided to mostly
stick with whatever we have for now and save money for stuff we really like, even if that means
using our old kitchen table as a desk for the time being. One thing we needed right away was
dining room chairs and luckily we managed to snag these for free from some very nice people
looking to get rid of some furniture.
I'm absolutely in love with the shape, but not in love at all with the fabric. Hey, they
were free so I can't really complain. The chairs also go beautifully (sort of) with our
vintage teak dining table... more on that in a later post.
My task now is to recover
these chairs with a slightly less 'granny' fabric, but that's proving more difficult than I
thought because there's too many great prints to choose from! Since we don't really have any
other furniture I can pretty much go with whatever colours
I want, so I've managed to narrow it down to a pattern in either blue, black or green. I chose
blue and black because it's dark enough hide any potential stains and is easy to decorate
around later, and I chose green because I think it would look nice with the slightly reddish
tone of the wood.
What do you think? I'm leaning towards the triangles in the very first circle but late last night
while I was browsing fabric I got this crazy idea that I wanted a skull print.
I went to bed thinking I had it figured out. In the light of day, that idea is looking a little
crazy... or is it? Ack! There's too many choices! This may come down to me closing my eyes and
pointing at the screen.

I'm pretty clever with that title aren't I? Haha, maybe not so much but I couldn't resist.
With the weather cooling down, another thing I can't resist is a nice cup of tea. (Pretty
good segue there, I'm on fire today!) We've got a huge collection mugs, more mugs than
one house should ever hold. These are my two favourites. The blue one I got several years ago at Starbucks of all places. The brown one I found on
Etsy and was part of a set of 6, but 5 of them broke in transit. That just makes the one
survivor even more special!
And here are two mugs that I wouldn't mind adding to my collection. I might have to find
room for these babies!

When there's a change in the weather, you can always hear me saying those
five famous words: "I have nothing to wear!". What is it about a season change
that makes you look in your closet and only see crap. What the heck did I
wear last fall exactly?? I don't even know. Here are a few fall essentials
that will spruce up your autumn wardrobe and maybe even help you with the
transition to winter!
I'm not usually the type of person to jump on the bandwagon with super
popular books, but The Help is actually a pretty interesting read. It still has
the fast-paced easy-read feel that you would expect from a book that goes this
mainstream, but the story is very good. The writing is good. The pace is good.
Heck, even the movie is good. Good? Normally, as an avid reader, I
automatically dimiss the movie version of a book as extra fluff for the super
fans but I would watch The Help (the movie) just for the clothes and decor.
Gah, I could move right in to Hilly's house and be very comfortable. Expect
for the whole bathroom situation (obs).
